Even higher prices
Matt Makens, I am confident at least YOU will get your wish!
I predict that everything will only be available as an Apple iPod App. No more physical production.
Andrew
I predict it will have nothing of interest to me.

Maybe a cool new accessory.................stay tuned this Friday!
175 Rocket Launcher with Legacy would be cool.
I am not paying 2k anymore I bought the big boy .. I will buy a jlc one before i pay 2k .1500 I might do
I can understand this line of thinking... and it's precisely why I did NOT by a VL Big Boy. $2K was too much of a premium for a depleting coal load and road-specific dialogue. $1400 for the Legacy Y6b worked for me, and I might be a candidate for a Class A or Allegheny if priced similarly. If it's $2K (street), I'll pass without giving it a second thought.
David
As I got the VL Big Boy and other VL steamers I will gladly pay $2000 again and again. You guys can sit around and watch the videos of the rest of us running ours.
The new Y6b is a great locomotive, but always leaves me wishing it had more. If it had blow down steam and depleting coal it would unseat the two BBs I have as the top earners. I think the VL locomotives have ruined everything else for me, I will more than willingly lay down an extra $500 for the extra bits that go into a VL. I am hoping for a Class A or Allegheny as well. But , Lionel, please make it VL. You guys that won't pay the money can simply go buy the JLCs and TMCCs that will be on the market when advertisement of the VL hits the street. Even HO is getting with the program and BLI is integrating a whistle steam and deleting coal load on its Big Boy. The popularity and excitement that the VL Big Boy caused was extraordinary and well disserved. But I guess there will always be those that would not the go around the world if it cost a nickel. I'll do it twice!
I predict it will have nothing of interest to me.

Good luck with that one. I have been hoping for that since re-entering the hobby about 4 years ago. Hasn't happened yet with either Lionel or MTH catalogs. All I do is run out of train funds long before my wish list purchases are complete.
I'm still hoping for a Legacy GG1 in Black with catwhiskers!!!!
But the next VL won't be $2K... Probably will be $2200 or $2400. For the record, I didn't say there was anything wrong with paying $2K for a locomotive -- other than the fact you're sending a clear signal to Lionel that $2K is an affordable price-point for you. But we all know that early adopters of new features always pay a premium for those features. That's pretty standard across all industries -- not just toy trains. As long as you go in with both eyes wide open, then go for it and enjoy.
My point was simply that I can very much relate to those folks who paid $2K once and would seriously think twice before doing it again. I put the money I saved by not buying a VL BB into the piggy bank for my first trip around the world. I figure it might take me a few more passes on future VL products, but I'll get there eventually.
David
Sorry but I don't mind 1400 but 2k is my limit .. Your talking to someone that has 5 visionline engines downstairs ..
Wow, we got off the subject and on the subject of $$$$$$, So, back to the Question,
whats going to be in the new 2015 Vol 2 Catalog? Who Knows? I personally like the VisionLine Products as they are State of the Art. Yes, I will sell the JLC Version to help pay for the VisionLine Version....I have most all of the VisionLine Engines, not the Centipedes..... I would like to see a Legacy steamer, little shifter 0-4-0, Scale version.
Now, back to why you won't Pay $2K.......Happy Railroading.
I saw the new B6 switchers and they look great with lots of features. But since I run Conventional only, I picked up a LN Pennsy B6 Switcher #18000 from 1989 with Railsounds for $275 on Ebay and it arrived Friday and is superb! $600 vs. $275. Each to his/her own!

"Modern" being about 34 years ago...
And it was never built, so the brass HO model is the prototype...

Ha, I remember the modern steam loco promotions. Like I say, paper does not refuse ink. Designers can put all kinds of ideas on paper. Doesn't mean they'll work.
