I have 3 of the Premier Proto 3 FEF's.  One is greyhound and the other 2 are the all black #843.  I love to triple head them in a lashup and I don't really care about 2 of the cab #'s being the same.  That presents my problem.  How to run 2 identical engines on the same layout in a lashup?  Is there a way to give one of them a separate identity that doesn't involve board flashing and advanced programming?  It would be great if I knew a way around this because I've acquired some other duplicates of my favorite engines through years of collecting.  Again, I run my trains and don't count rivets, so I just like to see them running together regardless of duplicate cab #'s.

Also, the hazard light on the FEF comes on in reverse.  Is there a way to independently turn it on/off through DCS or even to have it flash?

Thanks,

Adam

Hello Adam,

When you add them to the DCS Remote the second one will take the next address.  Each PS-2/PS-3 has it's own address.  The address in the remote will take the next available number.  Add your engine one at a time on your layout and then when you put them all on they can be addressed by the number they are in your remote.  To make them identifiable from each other you can change the name of one of the Engines by going in to the Engine Setup Menu and go to EDIT ENGINE and you can change the engine name.  Then you rename the engine and the engine will keep that new name to show up in your remote.

Currently, that light is set to be controlled by the LIN softkey in your DCS Remote. This is actually a departure from the norm and it should be on the LBE or Beacon Light control. This is being corrected and a new Consumer Package will available on our website within the next day or two.

Where do I access the consumer package?

That would be the Sound File/Chain File download under the "Support" tab on MTH's web page for the engine..

Do I have to reload version 5.0?

No, you do not. Rather, you need to use DCS Loader Program 5.0 to reload the engine's Sound File and Chain File, after downloading them from the engine's MTH web page.

DCS Book CoverThis and a whole lot more is all in “The DCS Companion 3rd Edition!"

This book is available from many fine OGR advertisers and forum sponsors, or as an eBook or a printed book at OGR’s web store!
