Some of you may remember me from a while ago. Marx 6" tin lover. I got out of it for a little while but have recently relocated my empire of dirt to a larger house. Larger house means basement and basement means train room! Yay!

The previous owner's wife had a small hobby/knitting room downstairs. Nice desk affixed to the wall, 30"x130" and some opportunity for a second level eye level layout, plus more room for a small clockwork one.

In between homeowner things, I think this'll be a nice place to build a little world.

Three unrelated thoughts:

  1. Congratulations on getting back into it.  Your enthusiasm is fantastic ... and infectious.

  2. You have a great opportunity to bust some serious chops here.  To those who've commented on the relative attractiveness of the wallpaper behind your layout, your response can only be:

"My dear grandmother had it in her girlhood bedroom.  It took me hours to put up.  I'm sorry you don't like it."

Then you pause, listen to the room get quiet, and say, "Sorry, just kidding."

  3. The line "Larger house means basement and basement means train room! Yay!" could be the refrain to the song that's in every train guy's head.  I love it.

Enjoy it and keep us posted.

It's not that big of a deal. Wallpaper is more of a PITA than anything to remove and painting over it in size would be also, so I'm probably going to get a poster printed to fix up the lower as the layouts will be on two different levels and skirting for the table. The upper one can be painted a simple sky blue with some puffy clouds, I'm not anticipating that much space used between the bottom of the cube shelves and the layout surface, maybe a foot or so.

TBH, I don't mind it that much, if it comes to it, I can do it though.
