Hello all -

I have a very clean 2344 with very little run time.  It  probably hasn't seen the rails since the late 1950's.  After lube and oil service, I applied power, but all I get is the buzz of the e-unit.  I took the shell off and can see the pall cycing the drum.  I jumped the e-unit with two wires directly to one of the motors, but not even a twitch.  What am I missing?

Thanks in advance.

You could also have poor electrical contact in the e-unit.

Sometimes when a loco sits for a very long time, enough oxidation will build up to prevent the e-unit fingers from making contact with the drum. The metal parts may not look dirty, just dull.

I have also run across engines where the wires from the e-unit to the motor terminals appeared to be connected, but were actually broken inside the insulation.
