Hello Everybody, I have the above SD-9 that I have had for a while, purchased it from a Forum Member, it did not come with the original box so I have no idea what the MTH Item number is or if it is Proto 1 or later, I'm hoping later.  Anyway, it has been stored away for numerous years now and I finally got around to taking it out of the box it came in and when I put it on the track and searched for it with the DCS controller, it does not find the engine.  I tried to add it to the DCS but all it does is make some knocking sounds and the horn might sound but will not move.

I thought maybe the battery might need to be changed, so I took off the fuel tank and found there was a white battery underneath the frame but I can't get it to come out.  It is wedged in tight and I don't want to put a lot of pressure on it and break it.  I would also like to install a BCR II in it if possible.  I did grease the gears and oiled everything as best I could but that's not the problem.  Is my thinking correct, is the battery dead?  I just need to get it out first.  Do I need to take the shell off in order to access the battery better?

Any help will be greatly appreciated, I'd really like to be able to see it run.

Thanks so much for your help.

Thanks everybody for your comments, GRJ, it does in fact have a battery in it, at least it sure looks like a battery.  Guess I'll have to take it apart and see what's up.  Stu, the link was perfect, I have now got it entered into my inventory.  I keep an inventory with prices as close as I can remember so that when I croak, my wife and kids will have some kind of an idea as to what to ask for them when they go to sell them.
