Proper way to operate Lionel Railsounds Dinner Car?

I enjoy the Lionel station-sound diners.  I realize it can be awkward to switch to from different engine ID's to operate the engine and the diner but I think the benefits outweigh the effort.  Although I have not tried it, but have you considered setting the same ID for both diner and engine?  I run DCS w/ TMCC and cab 1.  I have a Legacy system that I have not yet put into service.

Keystone, no I have not tried that.  I have the Lionel PWC Texas Special F3 A unit with TMCC and the B unit has the Legacy sounds.  I do run these with same engine ID# and it works fine.  I just don't know if I added the dinner car on with the same ID# if it would work.  I'll try it though.

 

I enjoy the Railsounds dinner also, lots of great announcements.

On the Cab2 select PASS For the diner car type.  Then build a train - making sure the diner car is a "train link" unit. The default should be correct.  Then after the train is built, use the train link button to quick switch between the loco and diner to activate the features.  The diner and loco shoud be on different TMCC IDs.   

 

Thanks jon, I have not built a train before but I will try and find the instructions to do so.  That would make things easier.

Yes, thanks Jon for the S/S diner "train link" setup clarification and Legacy feature tips.  I need to pull my Legacy system out of the box one of these days before too many updates pass me by.
