Amtrak GG1 proto 2 3volt been sitting on shelf for a few years. Charged battery and put on track, fired up the DCS system and I get nothing from the engine not even the click you usually hear when you apply power to the track. I hope I haven't lost another engine, but I'm not too optimistic. Any ideas as to what's wrong. It ran perfectly when put on the shelf a few years ago. Thanks for any ideas.

3V boards don't routinely die on the shelf like the 5V boards. I think the starting point is find out if it's drawing any current at all. It's likely that you may have to open it up if you aren't hearing the relay.
Thanks. What do I do when I open it up?
The cause of the problem has been found. My son reminded me to check the switch on the underside of the engine that lets you select track power or panto graph power. For some reason the switch was in the power from the panto graph position and not track power. I must be getting senile to not think to check for that switch setting. At least I have a happy ending for a change and not another lost engine.
:-) Just going to post that. GGs are notorious for the pilot truck moving the switch to panto position when picked up. G
