I have my first o gauge proto 3 and was wondering is the shut down on this a shorter then what the proto 2 was or should i leave on track to charge up. i am all new to the proto3 and know nothing about it. please help

The PS2 battery is not used to preserve settings, rather, it's used to save them after track power is turned off.
A PS3 engine uses a Supercapacitor instead if a battery. The "Supercaps" charge in less than 30 seconds and stay charged for several hours. They never need to be replaced.
If operating a PS3 engine in conventional mode, one needs to initially let the engine sit for 30 seconds before operating it. Under DCS, no waiting period is necessary.
