I have a 20-3484-1 Southern Pacific GS-4 that will not move in conventional mode. Power Z4000, power on for over a minute, headlight then number lights on sounds on, bell and whistle working. Did feature and factory reset and tried after each reset. Added the engine back in but will not run in conventional - will run with DCS. Sounds and lights will stay on for about 10 sec after power is turned off. Any ideas? Thanks Bruce

Not sure if it will make a difference but make sure the DCS/DCC switch is set to DCS. If there is a 2/3 Rail switch, make sure it is in the 3 rail position. I've also found the tether/drawbar not to big snug and a hard push on it gets things going again.
You will have to remove the reverse unit lockout. This can be done in DCS or using a compatible conventional transformer. Look in the manual and it will tell you the horn bell button sequence to push. I have this on several PS3 engines and once I removed the reverse lock all was well. I would not move the switch to DCC since I think DCS is where it should stay unless you are running DCC.
1W then 5B, at 1/2 second intervals. TIU must be turned off.
I had same problem with a PS3 loco, except as soon as power applied, it would take off in reverse. MTH VP told me to do a conventional reset, 1 W & 5B. It worked.
For PS-3 you need to do a conventional reset as mentioned. The DCS reset don't always effect the Conventional memory for PS-3. G
Thanks guys. After York and a lot of distractions I reset the Proto3 engine today and it now runs in conventional. Bruce
You're welcome, Bruce. Glad to have been able to help.
