I have an ACL SW8 that acts like a traditional control engine but the box says QSI and optionally equipped with ProtoSound, but is it? I want to lash it up with an ACL E8 w/ ProtoSound but they power up differently. Any suggestions on the diagnosis or the lash Up?

It is most likely horn only. PS1 starts up very differently than the horn only units. If the model number on the box says -0, it is horn only. If the box says -1, it is Protosound. "Optionally equipped with ProtoSound" means just that.

As long as the engines are running good, they should be able to run in a lash up with no problem. I would run them spaced apart to see if they run fairly close to the same speed. PS1 engines and horn versions don't have speed control, so it's not as critical being exactly the same speed as PS2.
PS-1 engines do not function in DCS. They are essentially conventional engines with all the cool sounds and smoke.
