I have just added this Weaver car to the fleet and have come up short searching for information on the history related to the prototype. It appears it was in a WWII troop train series weaver produced. Can anyone point me in the right direction to find out more on the history. Here is the NYC version box (it appears) from one of the auction sites. The NW version I have is below and my guess is it is the same series. Thanks in advance for thoughts.

You can look up “troop sleeper” on Wikipedia for some info on them.
I have one in Western Maryland and WM did have at least one; I even saw it back in the day.

Very helpful and thanks. The section on "afterlife and preservation" was spot on in providing what I was puzzling over.
I know there is a hospital car at the US Army Medical Museum at Ft Sam Houston in Texas, my daughter sent photos of it when she was training there.
