Found a Weaver Crusader locomotive and considering upgrading it to PS 2.0. Would any folks know of anyone who could complete the upgrade that would be located in New York State or Pennsylvannia State area?Appreciate.Al B ( abisback@cogeco.ca)

john you do upgrades??..hummm..got a question..on the 2.0 do they have the wright chuffs for 4 pistions steamers?..plus saw a video that these guys did and its not that stupid stock whistle sound like on proto 1 and some proto2...like the whistle on the prr /texas the one on this video..would like to do something on myq2..let me know your thoughts on it john..I trust you..
Josey, With PS 2.0 you can set the chuff to what ever you desire. You can load any PS 3V sound file into the upgrade kit board. G

is it easy to install a 2.0 kit...want to convert my Q2 next after I finish my S1..Q2 has the old QSI system in it..
It's not particularly difficult to install the upgrade kit, but obviously it does require the normal amount of mechanical ability. You need a flywheel motor for the encoder, and you'll have to fit the 10 pin tether between the locomotive and the tender. This sometimes requires some surgery, especially on non-MTH locomotives.
Which Q2 do you have, the 3rd Rail? I'm working with Harry Henning on one of those to add all sorts of advanced features. We're going to have whistle steam, blowdown, and the depleting coal pile.
John, I'd be curious how you intend to trigger blowdown and the depleting coal pile.
Pete
Funny you should ask. We'll be decoding the serial TMCC line for the blowdown, and the thinking on the coal pile is triggering it with a magnet at a "refueling" station.
I will be following your progress. I have some ideas on the mechanical part but was't sure how to generate the extra codes.

At some point, we'll have a forum post about what we're doing, that will be when it works.
