I have a PS 3 ES44AC GE Hybrid. Has been working great. I pushed the Sound button on the DCS Remote and the sound turned off as expected. A second push did not restore the sound. How do I turn the sound back on ? The bell and whistle work. Powering down the engine and letting it sit didn't restore the sound.

Go to the sound menu and make sure the different sound settings are turned on.. Here you go
Menu/Sound/ Bell is the first one. scroll to whatever volume you want and and select, horn is next and so on.
Or Menu/Advanced/ Reset engine/ Feature reset..... good luck

Did you inadvertently hit your eng sound button? Doppler will kill all sound as well if sitting.
A simple feature reset can also get all setting back to normal. G
Thanks folks. I'll give the feature reset at try and let you know how I make out.
OK, I did the feature reset and it WORKED !!!! So, why didn't simply pressing the volume ON/OFF on the remote work ? Software hack, corrupt DCS signal ?
Thanks everyone !!!
Steve,

Since the Horn and Bell still worked correctly, it wasn't a Volume level problem, rather, it was because you turned off Engine Sounds, specifically.
You most likely could have resolved the issue by simply pressing Engine Sounds again, to turn them back on.
This and a whole lot more is all in MTH’s “The DCS O Gauge Companion 2nd Edition", available for purchase as an eBook or a printed book at MTH's web store!
Hi Barry,
You're correct, I did turn the Engine Sounds off but I did press the Engine Sounds again as the manual instructs to turn the sound back on. The sound did not turn on. I tried a number of things such as restarting engine command mode, power off engine reboot, 2 hour power off engine reboot. In each case the engine in command mode had no sound. Feature reset restored the sound. Any idea what I did wrong ?

You probably didn't do anything wrong. Sometimes things happen with no explanation. I ve seen this one before .

Doubtful you did anything wrong, rather, you may not have given things enough time. After pushing the #4 key, you sometimes need to give the system a tick or two to pass the command along and for the engine to respond back. What may have happened is you pushed the key, nothing happened and you pushed it again with even realizing it. Natural reaction. In effect, two pushes, turns the sound on then right back off. FWIW.
Just for fun I gave it another go. Powered up the GE Hybrid Evolution in command mode. Had full sound. Press the Volume ON/OFF #4 button on the DCS remote once, received the OFF status on the remote display and the sound turned off. Next pressed the same Volume ON/OFF button #4 button again and received the ON status on the remote display but no sound. Waited 60 seconds or so but no sound. The Engine Feature reset restored the sound as it had done on previous attempts. I have 3 TIU's running in Super mode. Haven't tried the Volume ON/OFF on the other 2 TIU's. Thanks for your input Charly !
Interesting subject. Had company last night and one of the guests turned the sound off on his Proto 3. When turning it back on the horn/bell came back but not the engine. Had to go into "Sound" and raise it from zero manually. Not sure if he had selected "off" or lowered it a step at a time. Will see if we can duplicate it tonight. We are at 4.2.
