First off, PS/3 always reads low battery, ignore that.
Have you specifically checked all the volume settings for each of the sound functions?
thanks yes,,,,good to know on the battery ,vol set 100%
What specific locomotives are we talking about? A few of the MTH diesels have tiny speakers and don’t get all that loud. I have a Premier Alco S-2 like that.
sorry the problem child is the 11-2031-1 af standard gauge loco,,,the other i referenced seems ok
also i need a headlight bulb for the 11-2031-1 also
the volume is low when the caps aren't charged yet. It should restore full volume when they become fully charged. So something is off here. Like stated, the volume settings should be checked. When you state ten minutes, do you mean at more than 12 volts for that time? Like 18 volts? If low voltage, maybe it's not enough getting to those caps.
A cap test could be done by letting the engine idle and kill the power. See how long it plays shut down sounds for.
I'm guessing you felt these engines used to be louder, right? It may need to be looked at. Even the speaker should be inspected.
thanks for the suggestions, will ckeck more today
