PS-3 Upgrade Turnaround Time

Well, I suspect the density of ASC's is sparser in Canada, but I don't know for sure.  I don't think I've ever taken that long, but I have had stuff for months before it gets done.

What does your local trustworthy shop say when you question them about the time that has gone by?

9 months in I excusable unless they told you it was going to take that long.

I'd get it back and start a conversation with one of the resident OGR ASC folks here.

I've used GGG and GRJ.  Each 5 stars.

They say that he is old, in poor health, and has a very large backlog of repairs / upgrades that he's working through.

I agree that 9 months for such a job is inexcusable, but I also have no reason to believe that this is a lie, nor do I feel comfortable putting pressure if the guy is genuinely not healthy....

Still, I'm getting antsy. I could have taught myself how to properly and safely install the upgrade kit after this long.

As for getting in contact with one of the ASC fellows in our community here, I would love to do so, but international shipping prices make that cost-prohibitive. On top of that, Canada has brutal import charges. It would be an extra 50-75% of the upgrade cost for me to ship it out VS just driving to my local store. If not more.

Have you considered visiting his store? I'm assuming it's the guy in Fergus. He's only open Saturdays by appointment.

It's not that location. Unless my local train store sends service work to that other store in Fergus, which seems highly unlikely.

There are only 2 service centers listed for Ontario on the MTH web site. Perhaps this list is not up to date.

Could be. Or maybe they really do send it out to another location for the upgrade?

Either way, it seems unusual to take this long.
