I have a PS1 Premier Blue Comet. I got the 3 clanks of death. Bought the kit to descramble and it now runs but only with sound in neutral. No chuffing while running. Is this a problem I can fix with a reset option? thank you!!

Yes. It should. Go to reset 18 and press whistle once for the warbled bell and clear bell. Release. Press a second time to reset chuff. Then lower throttle to zero and back up around 9V with in a second or 2. Should start moving with sounds. G
I am doing something wrong. If I press whistle button the reset number increases to 19..20..21. I have the sequence incorrect.
If reset 18 doesn't clear it up and provide the chuff sound again, you'll need to do reset 27 and use the power handles to provide the proper chuff setting sequence procedure.

I guess you are using Z-4000. After getting to reset 18 (3 clanks & 3 clinks) press the bell button to select that feature. Then press the whistle button. You should get a garbled bell sound indicating the reset took.
P.S. Then press PROGRAM again to finish.
AS Joe said you must be using Z-4000 in program mode. So follow the manual instructions. Just press twice. The first is the reset (hold until you get clear bell than release),Press second time. The second clears the chuff level settings. That should get sounds back when moving. G

I agree, I deleted my other reply, I Thought he had no sounds period.
Thanks guys but the engine is still not chuffing in motion. I have no problem engaging reset 18. I get the 3 clanks and 3 clinks. Whenever I press the whistle button the feature jumps to 19 still. I'm using a Z4000. Where should throttle handles be? I have them down the whole time.

Gerry, Your not doing it right. Whistle selects the reset #, bell is what you need to press on the z-4000 to select the reset. Look at the blue markings on the program button. G
