Anybody been able to access the upgrade soundfiles?
Replies sorted oldest to newest
Yes. But some sound sets may not be available for your specific engine and you might have to use one that's close to yours. What engine are you trying to upgrade?
How do you know if the sound file is newer than the one you have installed. Are they dated somehow?
Steve,
I'm not aware of a way to tell the age of an upgrade sound file by just looking at the file itself.
What I mean is that when I go to the ProtoSound2 website and click on soundfiles I get a HTTP500 error no matter how I search.
Steve,
I see what you mean now.
Instead of using the orange menu at the upper left, go here down the middle of the page:

At the bottom on upgrade kit sound sets should work for you.
I just went through the same issue, here's how I solved it:
click on upgrade Kit sound sets, as shown above
click search for item on next page
type in loco type and you will get a loooong list to pick through
I'll give it a try Joe.
Thanks...Steve
Steve,
Actually my last post with the chart was in response to CRH. Senior moment I guess. Sorry for any confusion. But if you find anything out about the dating of the files, let us know.
Joe, Thanks as I didn't try that..duh
Joe, Well that's no good as it takes me back to the MTH homepage. I guess that the upgrade soundfiles are gone..dang as some of them were rather unique and loud
I am getting the same error msg. Has MTH been notified of this?
CRH,
It works for me.
Try this link and type in the model you are looking for such as F-3, GP-40, etc. and you should get some sound files for upgrades on PS1 engines and sound files for production PS2 engines.
