Should the sound on a PS2 engine stop when you press the direction button or should it continue on battery power. I have an engine that the sound shuts off immediately when I turn the power off. It had the original white battery which I replaced with a fully charged green one. If the sound shuts off immediately with a new battery does that mean the board is shot?

it means either the charging circuit has failed, power is not getting to the board, or that battery is defective. Check the wires for any breaks.
Is the battery near the board? Does it go through the tether?
You could contact GGG to look at the 5 volt board.
Thanks @engineer-joe. I found the problem. The battery wire was broken in the tether.
