Chuck: I'll have to ask the repair guy - I have no idea personally.  I don't want to insult this guy since I've been using him for MTH repairs for maybe 10 years now.  Do you think he'd be insulted if I said I could get one?  Again, this guy is an AUTHORIZED repair shop so if anyone should be able to get parts it should be shops like his, right?

Between you and me, and forumites I suppose, I'm tired of waiting.  2 1/2 months seems plenty long enough.

thanks Chuck - I'll call him today.

Thanks Todd.

The biggest issue I have had so far, pre-repair of course, was learning that the drawbar has a second connection on the engine side.  Not obvious at all, and very hard to get at - for me.

The connection is hidden under the engineer's seat in the engine. Mine kept coming undone so I tied it to keep it connected.

I suppose it's encouraging in a way to know that tin-plate drawbars are harder to come by.

I too agree with Dave.  Especially as I mentioned above - the connection to the engine that is hidden by the engineer's seat.  The screws are almost impossible to get to.  THat's why once I had access to mine, to stop it from coming undone over and over I tied it.

One of the drawbacks to having only a Christmas layout is that I have to disconnect and re-connect each year.  Well, I guess I don't HAVE to.  I suppose I could just put the engine/tender in the closet still connected.  But I like storing them in the safety of their boxes, meaning a disconnect is required.
