Attached is a video of my MTH PS3 Railking Mikado. I've noticed that with each individual chuff, with smoke, the headlight and marker lights flash slightly. I am running conventional with MTH Z1000s (and one Z500)

Hopefully this can show up clearly in the video. I note this until the engine is running quick enough for the smoke unit to be constantly on - not the on/off/on, etc that comes with the slow speed chugging. Once the engine is running quick enough to run the smoke fan constantly, the lights stay solid. I also note this with DCS.

Unfortunately, I don't have any other marker-light equipped PS3 steamers to compare. My PS2 engine with markers does not do this. My PS3 0-6-0 switcher also has the quick flicker to the headlight with each chuff and again, evens out once the smoke is running constantly.

BTW, this is also the engine that doesn't "coast" when stopped in conventional. I've posted that issue before. Barry, have you heard anything? MTH knows that there is an issue and I was told would be issuing an update sometime early this year.

I remember the issue about non-coasting and my PS3 RK Imperial Mikado also has that issue. As you say, MTH has promised a software update for the engine. If I had to bet, I expect that it will involve the engine's Chain File.

I don't recall seeing the very slight flicker on my model, however, it very possibly could be there. Regardless, ti's harmless. You could report it to MTH so that if it requires a software update, which I expect it does, they can include it with the fix for the non-coasting issue..

Thanks Barry. Appreciate it. Hopefully the update for the coasting will come sooner rather than later.

FWIW, I also note that the tender headlight and marker lights do not "flash" with each smoke puff.

Also, while I'm here, any reason for the engine to do this (below)? I was also able to reproduce on my PS3 0-6-0 from several years ago. Very low voltage in conventional (just starting out from stopped). Have not tried to do this with a PS2 steam engine.

Thanks Barry. I don't have DCS at home, only the club layout. The light issue is seen both conventional and DCS. On the Mikado, I only see the front engine headlight and markers flicker, not the tender.

FWIW, like I mentioned in my previous post, I see the same headlight flicker with my PS3 0-6-0. The 0-6-0 does not have marker lights.
