PS3 Steam Locomotive on a Non-derailing Switch

I am just starting to operate a new 4-8-4 PS3 premier steam locomotive. I use it on a 3 rail layout, so I have the 2/3Rail switch in the 3 rail position.

It appears that only one side of the locomotive has grounded wheels, and the other side has insulated wheels. If the grounded wheel goes over the rail segment that activates the non derailing feature, the switch goes to the opposite position. If the insulated wheel goes over the rail segment, nothing happens, and the switch does not change position.

Has anyone experienced this same problem?
