I am trying to connect the psx-1 to a tiu fixed port in 1, as soon as i do this the psx goes into short circuit mode.

this happens with two tius.

fixed port 2 works fine on both.

any suggestions?

also i cannot get the variable voltage channels to work at all. i am using two lionel bricks 135 watt connected together in and the only voltage we get is 9 volts. i have set them to fixed and still 9 volts?

please help

Jerry,

The may be a silly question, however, what's a "psx-1"?

and the only voltage we get is 9 volts. i have set them to fixed and still 9 volts?

What is the output voltage of the "psx-1"? The variable channels cannot put out a greater voltage than what is their input.

Joe,

I even wonder if this deice is appropriate for use with O gauge, or if it's more appropriate for HO or N gauge. Further, since it states...

The currents can be adjusted over a range of 1.27 to 17.8 amps.

...I wonder how Jerry has it configured, and if that could have anything to do with the device "going into short circuit mode". Additionally, what's the transformer power supply that it's monitoring?

Regardless, we still need to know what is the voltage at the output of the device. Further, if the TIU works properly without the device connected, the problem is almost certainly with the device, and the solution would then be simply to not use it.
