Anyone have any ingenious ways to do this?   I have a rivet press but without completely disassembling the ZW, which I do not want to do, what is the best way to clinch the pins on the rollers??   If there was a 'clinching' pliers that would be great.  I tried using regular pliers but did not get great results.  May have to remove those rollers and put new rollers and pins in again.

How about a dab of Walther's goo on the end?

Thanks, I can post some pictures tomorrow if necessary.

Get a stiff piece of paper and put it under the rollers to prevent debris from falling into transformer ,take a pair of dikes , break the roller ,then cut the pin and remove .put new pin with roller on , then with needle nose plyers bend the end of the pin up enough so the pin does not come out , make sure the bend is on the out side of the roller arms ,I have ben doing this for 30 years and never had a problem techman

I don't remove the arms to do the change, much easier.  I can change the rollers in about 15 minutes, maybe less.

techman is right, this should be very easy.  Just don't flex the arms too much.

One tip, make sure that you put the end you crush away from the other roller as they'll clash if they're sticking in the same way.  The heads of the rivets should face each other.  I use the Dremel to cut the pin, they're surprisingly hard and filing them or cutting them with cutters is more difficult.

Thanks for the great tips. When I used the pliers I crushed the pin too much and the carbon rollers don't roll to well.  May have to crush them and do again.

gunrunner:  I discovered this too, gotta put the pins in so the heads face each other or there can be contact as the throttle arms pass by each other.

I like the solder tip, I used Walther's Goo on one and it works fine too!

Jeff Kane of The Train Tender is super for parts!  He even had the arms, the spring and the plastic inner collar.  Easy to deal with and very helpful with information too.

Thanks again for all the help. This forum is the best there is!
