I received a PW 364 lumber loader as a gift.   I cleaned up the motor and put on a new belt from Train Tender.   It runs fine now with no belt slippage.   However the logs have some trouble getting up the chute.  They tend to slip and generally have a hard time getting pulled up the chute.   I do have the shiny side of the belt towards the pulley side.   Is there anything I can do to the logs or the belt to aid in traction?

Thanks,

Ed

Do they stick at the bottom before getting started up the ramp?  There is a caming action that's supposed to take place in the bottom bin to help them break free and start up the chute.  It's been a while since I looked at one of these, but I know I had to tinker with that to get the logs to go up the ramp reliably.  I remember putting a shim under the front to keep the log against the rear until it got all the way onto the unload ramp to drop into the car as well.

The replacement belts are too slick because of the silky material they are made of. Buy a can of 3M spray adhesive, hold the belt up and give it a light overall spray of the adhesive then leave dry thoroughly. This will put a slight film on the belt that will eliminate the slipping.

PS: I believe I purchased my adhesive at an auto parts store.

The logs seem to enter the chute OK but then they struggle going up.  They slip on the belt.  I tried using some of the old logs ( many of the newer ones have a slick coat on them). Still no luck.  I also tried waxing the sides to reduce the friction but that didn't seem to male a difference.

As Gandy mentioned, the belt is too slick to hold the logs going up.  I think I will try the spray adhesive And see if that works.

Thanks,

Ed
