Getting ready to lay some track. I've purchase a bunch of Atlas track but have a question about rail joiners. I see there are two kinds, plastic and nickel/silver. Is one better than the other? Which should I use?

The plastic rail joiners are for making insulated, separately power "blocks". The metal rail joiners should be use for EVERY section of track that is to be continually powered.
If they are used joiners, they should require a lot of pressure to connect two sections. If the joiners are loose, replace them with a new ones. Atlas sells the joiners, both black and silver separate.
In addition to creating power blocks, the plastic joiners are also used to create 'isolated' outside rail sections for triggering operating accessories, such as crossing gates.
