I recently purchased a K-Line F40PH engine with TMCC. The features include both smoke and flashing stobe. I would prefer not to have the strobe operating all the time but have been unable to find any instruction as to how to turn off the strobe lights. (there are two) The only info I have found in my TMCC how-to's indicate that AUX 1, 8 (on)and
nine (off) control the strobe when the engine does not have smoke. Does anyone know the correct method to turn off these strobes? Thanks

That is the method for the TMCC controlled strobe. Some manufacturers use stand alone boards to control the strobe. There might be a switch, or one could be added if a stand alone board is used. G
If the engine has smoke, the strobe is probably just wired to always operate. There are no additional controls available over front headlight, rear headlight, and smoke/strobe.
Adding a switch as GGG mentions is probably the cure.
I have 2 of these locos. while I didn't have a switch installed, I did yank out the crappy light bulbs in the strobes as replaced them with flashing blue led's. The blue LEd look much better as a strobe than the oem light bulbs. I also added the marker lights and directional lighting- esp the red center cyclope light.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I checked and found out that the strobes are run via a separate board and not TMCC controlled. For now I simply pulled the plug on the board to shut off the strobes, and will consider whether to add a switch or perhaps go to the blue leds to improve the strobe effect. Thanks for the help!
