Hello everyone. Over the last few months I was able to get 2 pairs of them. One was in BNSF's Heritage 1. The other pair was in NS's Operation Lifesaver 25 year anniversary paint scheme. Two paint schemes I have personally wanted to see get made for a long time. Both are incredibly beautiful. They were both in the same book. I belive it 2011 vol. 1. The one with the Hiawatha on the cover. My question is what do you think of these engines operationally and sound wise? I'd also like to hear from owners of the other Dash-9's in that book to. Thank you.

I have the NS operation life saver and it is a very nice. The sounds are great. The horn is very close to the prototype. My only complaint is that I am still waiting for the dummy, at least 2 months after the powered unit was delivered.
Have the BNSF one from that catalog. I'm overall happy with it, but I dislike the LED lighting as a total package. On the headlight its fine, but the LED ditch lights just look stupid and they flash too slow (but no one's ever really gotten the ditch light flash to look quite right). Same for the numberboards. The LEDs are too much of a point source and they dont really light up the numberboards too well. It runs great and seems to be able to pull anything. Detail wise, it looks pretty up to par (excluding a good bit of road specific detailing). Sound wise, I wish it were louder (this seems to be a common thing with PS3). I've downloaded the NS/CNW sound set, and it seems to have more volume than the BNSF/ATSF sound set, but according to others on the forum, the horn is fairly correct for an ATSF Dash 9 (although I think it sounds like the horn on my local garbage truck) The brighter horn in the NS sound set is definitely NS correct (or very close). Overall, its decent, but a lot of the late model PS2 modern GEs have absolutely fantastic sound sets (for example, the screaming turbo whine and thump of the AC6000, or the gorgeous, blaring horn in the AC4400 set), that MTH seems to have handcuffed themselves by putting a smaller speaker in some of these PS3 locos (you'd think the smaller board and no battery would permit a bigger speaker or maybe even dual speakers). The great sound fidelity may be there, but you cant really hear it. I'm still waiting to be blown away by a PS3 sound set...
I too am waiting for the NS dummy. As of this afternoon at my LHS, no word on an ETA for these. They were due in June, but that's obviously not going to be happening. He also said the U25Bs were delivered in the same manner (powered only, dummies "coming soon")
