Will any type of command control work with thes operating cars by Bachmann/Williams?
Basically will either TMCC or DCS be able to operate these new cars from Bachmann/Williams?
Or does only the Williams remote work?

Just the Williams remote will work. It's the same as the K-Line remote made for their operating cars...which are now Williams/Bachmann.
It's definitely not command-control signalling, otherwise it would cost a lot more than it does.

...But wouldn't it be nice to have this device ALSO control car couplers? Sort of on the order of Kadee's new remote G-scale coupler system?
Just think...this could be the 'conductor's' own remote...working along with the engineer...setting out cars, uncoupling them...unloading them...etc., etc.!
Whoa, Nellie! Bring it!!

I bought the remote, plus the operating log car and box car, for my oldest son while we were at York. He loves them and they work great. The two cars have a nice heavy and substantial construction too. And it's nice not needing an operating track to activate them. Plus, he loves holding the remote. I would highly recommend the cars.

Do you remember the name of the vendor you purchased from...?
Hi, I'm a new guy here and was wondering if the old K-line remote well operate the new williams remote control cars?
Thanks,
AL
Hey Al,
From what I have read about the new Williams/Bachmann operating cars, you must have the Williams/Bachmann remote. Same thing with the Williams before Bachmann take over, you need the corresponding remote for the corresponding car.
Other types of remotes from any other command control will not work with Williams unless you install the receiver for that type of command control system inside the Williams car.
K-Line remotes were made before Bachmann bought out Williams, so the K-Line remote won't work.
FYI, there was another post about Williams remotes and operating cars on the forum on here, not sure how far back.

Just spoke with Williams about this. Even though the operating cars and remote controller look identical to K-Line's, they are NOT. This is because the requirements set by the FCC have changed since the original K-Line design was approved. Therefore, if you want to operate Williams cars with a remote, you must buy their remote #47999.
