I'm not sure if this would be better asked elsewhere, but I though others might like to know the answer so here it goes on the forum.
What is the policy regarding advertising products in posts on the forum? The only mention I see is at the very bottom of the terms of service page which says "This On-Line Forum is not intended as a
substitute advertising in O Gauge Railroading magazine. " then gives contact info for doing print advertising. Forum sponsors seem to be given carte blanche in regards to advertising, and this seems fair as, from what I've seen all the sponsors are respectful to other users, and don't tend to push their products on folks that are just asking questions. I've seen mention in several posts at different times that other posts were deleted because of advertising, and mention of folks waiting to become forum sponsors so that they could talk about products they are selling.
My question comes down to this, do you have to be a forum sponsor to advertise a product you wish to sell and/or provide links to buy said product; and are all forum sponsors marked with the badge as such below their avatar on their posts?
