I got my Cab-Forward this week from Charles Ro. Great running engine. I have discovered a small problem running on my layout. There are several AtlasO #5 turnouts on the mainline that will cause the chuffing volume to decrease or sometimes stop altogether. A quick touch of Boost will restore the sounds. My question is - has anyone opened up the tender to see if there is a 9v battery. The Owner's Manual does not mention one. My experience on other TMCC/Legacy engines has been to install the battery and that stops the sound interruption over the turnouts and dirty sections of track. Didn't want to open it up to investigate if someone already has. I'm sure Lionel Service has the answer, but not sure they're up and running from the move.

I guess I wasn't too clear on my post. I was wondering if there was a 9v battery clip in the tender where a battery could be installed. The Owner's Manual does not mention anything about an option to install a battery.
Seems odd that there's no mention of a battery in the manual as there must be one. In any event, as these models are based on the tooling from the 2005 TMCC scale AC-12 I imagine that the battery location and access is the same. Attached is a copy of page 11 of the manual for that model. Access to the battery is by taking off the tender shell.

Thanks so much for the photo, it really helps.
It is on page 19 of the manual.
Thanks Gweedo, page 19 of my manual is a completely blank page, I'll check Lionel's website to see if they have a downloadable manual.
