Question on PS2 3v battery change

I need to change the battery for my MTH PRR Decapod 20-3253-1, located in the tender. Here are images of it (it is that yellow/green thing buried under the wires).

Before I do something that I may regret, I just want to confirm the only way to get at the battery is to cut the two straps and remove/extend the wires, then re-strap them after the new one is in. Or just leave the wires loose and try not to pinch them when I put the shell back on.

Actually, I am pretty sure the straps will need to be cut. Just surprised they made it more difficult than my other installations, although this is a small tender.

I'm not a tech but....

I have changed out several.

yes, I'd say you would have to cut the straps. Looks like some extra bundling because of the tether used. They had to tuck it somewhere!

Yes CAPPolit.....small zip ties will be your friend, when you get that battery out and a new one (BCR2 maybe??) back in.

If you don't use new zip ties you run a better than even chance of pinching a wire/s when you re-fit the tender shell....ask me how I know!!!

Get a bag of 4" tie-wraps/ zip ties. I always have at least a bag or two on the bench. Just be careful that you don't accidentally clip a wire when clipping the tie-wrap....... eek
