I was running my vision tank cars and while going thru the sound options on my Cab2 I noticed the two cars are behaving a little different. When I press the A and B key on my remote it activates rail clatter and turn squeal only on the rear car with the ETD on it. The other car does nothing when I depress these keys. The manual states that there is a min/max switch for enabling/disabling these functions. However, the switch is set to max. I checked it with an ohm meter proving the switch is working. I also set the switch to min to see if something is reversed and still no go. In addition, the manual says this setting also enables/disables the coupler sounds. However, they are working fine. I checked the RailSounds bd. in each car and the chip is labled 'mid' for the car in question and 'rear' for the ETD car. Lionel also lists separate part numbers for each RS board. If someone has a chance and owns a set of these cars, can you test to see if yours behaves differently? In addition, I'm running with 1.52 rev. Thanks.

Are you using the same ID number on both cars?
Jim, I'm not sure if this can help you. I do have a set of them but they are 2 railed. Maybe you could clip wires onto the exposed leads of mine and test them?
I don't have the Legacy controller to try the sounds myself. I just run them to get the wheel squeal sounds. So again, I can't help much.
Gwendo-They are different addresses. However, I don't think it would matter.
Joe-I thank you for the offer and would like to stop over to see your outdoor layout. I've been really admiring your posted videos. I will check to see if these sounds require motion to activate on the car that is working.
Thanks for the replies. I was also hoping the Lionel Railsounds Tech would chime in.
I repaired a set of these, the two audio boards do have different part numbers, so it's possible that the sounds are indeed slightly different. I have a set, but right now they're buried so I'm reluctant to dig for them.
I thought there was a utube video from Eric showing them.

OK I'm going to put this thread to bed. Joe, thanks for the video. I spotted a shot where the car in question was alone on a long train and it was making the curve squeal sound. I went downstairs and ran that car alone and indeed the sounds were toggling on and off with the appropriate keys. The difference between the two cars is that the car with the ETD gives feedback sounds when you depress the A or B key while the other car does not even though the actual sounds are activated and there while the car moves. Thanks again for the replies.
Joe - I'll get in touch over the next week or two and stop over to see the back yard layout if your're going to be around.
anytime! around doctor's appts. that is.
Jim, it's interesting that the toggles don't give feedback on the one car, I never noticed that oddity. Once wonders why the small difference, maybe they thought many would run them as one TMCC ID and didn't want multiple feedback beeps?
