Questions about Atlas O Extended Vision Caboose

Joe, here is an instruction sheet for my Atlas 6632 GN Extended Vision caboose.

Mine came with scale couplers in addtion to the 3-rail couplers, but no directions how to install them...

 

Thank you Red Block.  The instruction sheet is a start.  No scale couplers with this one but that could explain the slot.  Any one else have any ideas?

What diameter curve do you want to run on? I run my Atlas O caboose on O36 Fastrack with no problem. I'm sure you could add some sort of washers/spacers between the trucks and body to allow more coupler movement. You would have to take it apart and try different things to find out.

With the coupler sitting in that slot the truck barley moves side to side at all making me think very wide radius.  I can't get on the tracks right now but I've got O gauge tubular track with some O-27 in yards and sidings.

Hey Joe i have an atlas ev chessie caboose mine is like that to i tried everything to shim the truck with no luck the truck turn tight then derail but it will run on 036 turns which i run mine on 048 turns runs fine

If you plan to use it in Command Mode where there is constant high voltage, do not leave it on too long, because they use grain of wheat bulbs that will heat up and cause a slight melt in the side.

Joe when u run that caboose in command only run it at 14 to 16 volts we run everything with that voltage mth and lionel even at the club everybody tells u to run at 18 volts if u do boards will blow in your engines because of voltage spike what happen to us had to get engines repaired do to that

Joe, Place a washer between the truck and car body and you should be OK. I have 6 of them like that and they take O36 curves just fine.

Thank you Jim.  I'll try to get some nylon washers from the hardware store to use for this.  I'm not looking at the caboose right now so pardon me if the answer to this question is obvious.  Do I have to open the caboose up to remove the trucks?
