Hi all.  I'm in the middle of building an old Pittman trolley but i could'nt pass on this old R & T trolley kit that was on e-bay. Came yesterday in original old box and has 4 aluminum castings for the 2 sides and 2 ends. The sides include the roof so there's a seam down the middle of the roof. Nothing fits together very well and the instruction sheet starts with filing all the flash and burrs to fit the parts together, and to fill all the seams with filler. Probably bondo spot putty. Looks like it will work with enough work. My questions!!. Have any of you guys built one of these kits, probably years ago? Does anyone have a picture of a completed one they can post? Appreciate the help.

Geo.

Hi Rex. I bought the other one. There were 2 on there at the same time. From what i can see, the two sides and the rear casting will fit together pretty easy with a lot of dremel work. The front casting seems to be the problem, being too wide for the opening unless its supposed to stick out on the door side to form a wall next to the doors?? Let me know how yours is coming along when you get to it.

The R&T line still exists (sort of) under the ownership of Bob Trimble out in CA.  You might notice those eBay listings for the Pittman trolley parts for the LVT car (sides & roof) and the various sides for the 4-wheel work motor which he periodically offers.  I think it's all old stock since casting this stuff in these alloys is not trivial, but if you had questions, you might contact him.
