I have two rail sounds rolling stock cars. One is a smoking refer and one a pacific fruit vision line. The sounds cut in and out all the way around the track. It especially does it when going over the connections. I have the 180w Lionel brick with a legacy controller. Both cars do this. Locos do not. The light in cabooses doesn’t not flicker. I’m stumped. All track is brand new. Any suggestions?

Try cleaning the wheels and the pickups. Also, make sure both rollers and all the wheels have continuity to the power input of the board. If that is all good, then I add batteries to solve the issue.
Everything is brand new. Cars, locos, and track. All a month old. And the sound cars are brand new. How do I add a battery? There is no place for batteries.
I'd have to see the PCB to know if it has provisions for battery. Some do, some don't.
If it is one of the new boards, I figured out a fix for sound dropouts for my new Legacy locomotives.

The battery I linked above connects to the circled connector, and you just wire the red wire from the YLB to the center roller power. Although they say "unused", note that it's labeled GND/9V, that's the battery connection. Up until the 2021 redesign of the RS-Lite board, that connector has been there for the battery backup of sounds.
