Railsounds Commander Possibilities

I have many 3rdrail, Kline engines converted to EOB and railsounds 4.0 Love the EOB motherboards, getting tired of the old worn out sounds of the over 15 year old railsound 4.0. I like what I'm hearing on Electric RR website on the new Railsounds Commander.

I'm wondering if anyone has wired up a Railsounds Commander to either a plug n play or Motherboard EOB? From what I saw on Electrics Manual for the Commander wiring is pretty basic Just power, trigger input(Which EOB generates so no need for micro or reed switches), and the serial date lines from the R2LC board. Plus with a improved speaker from the Railsounds Commander kit, bang better sounding engine.

So what do you think and by the way a email has been sent to Electric RR asking this verything.

I wired one up on my bench, just to see if it would work, and I had no difficulties. I just removed the two RailSounds boards from the TAS board and wired the power, ground, and the serial data over to the new RS Commander. Works like a champ.

Well, you can sample the new sounds on the ERR website and compare them to what you have. I find them considerably better in fidelity.

I have to admit, they're not complete. Other than actually seeing one in person, it's hard to know exactly what they'll sound like. I find most U-Tube videos to be somewhat lacking in the audio arena.

One last Question John.

Did you have to wire up the chuff trigger line or is via the serial data line from the TAS board? Electric RR is out of RailSound Commanders until sometime in Aug.

The chuff can be driven over the serial link, that's how many of mine are done.

I suspect you mean RailSounds Commanders, ERR hasn't had the Sound commander for years. I think the RS Commanders were more popular than they imagined.
