when did lionel start putting these boards in there legacy engines. around what year?

I'm guessing but the year the Niagara NYC steam engine came out maybe even prior to the 3 or 4 years ago. the rcmc board was a Hugh development in improvement to ASC tech's Friends of mine he convinced me to buy buy 2 Niagara Lionel engines with all the newest and latest features at the time !

The Vision 700E came out in 2010 and has an RCMC. Not sure if it was first but assume about 2010.

thanks guys, I am eying a southern pacific legacy gs6 from 2012. just wondering what the board set up was and if they had any issues.
2010 was the first year I believe, the 2009 models all had the modular boards.
The Vision Line Hudson was the first RCMC locomotive but had the RS 6.0 and the SD60's was the first Diesels to have the RCMC and the RS-lite board. So starting in the 2010 catalog
