My RCS track is not working properly, when I push the unload button it shuts off the power to the track instead off dumping the logs. I tried switching the outside leads but there is no change.
After you verify it's wired correctly, check the controller, sometimes the contacts inside get bent/warped from use or just not made quite right and stick together. Slight adjustment is simple fix.
I've had the same problem with several of my vintage controllers. I agree with Chris: open the unit and be sure the tabs are adjusted to ensure proper contacts when depressed. Sometimes there is insufficient contact, and sometimes too much causing shorts. Also, be sure the solder points of the wires remain intact. Sometimes they come loose...and what fun it is to resolder them in close quarters!!
