Congrats!! You'll never regret having a Big Boy. Can you tell where you found it??
That's funny in a good way!

Congratulations! It is an awesome engine! I found mine a few months ago.
Picked this one up by chance at Grandpa's Train Store Warwick, RI. It had been sitting in the back in its shipping box for 4 years.

Thanks for the info!! Have you had a chance to lube it yet; wouldn't be a bad idea? If you do and you turn it upside down to lube it, it is common knowledge on the forum that you support the front drive truck with one hand as you lift it and turn it upside down or just plain lift it - you do not want to allow it to fall loosely downward - tip from MartyF.

Rick, can you be reached via Email? I see none in your profile?
I've noticed the front drivers creek a little, any advice for quieting?
Have you lubed it yet?
Yes, per the instructions, but I noticed the 2 set of forward drive wheels makes a creaking sound. It doesn't appear to be anything other than some resonant creaking without any real engineering consequence.
So, a guy walks into a train store...

Maybe after sitting for so long, some lubricant has dried. I removed the cap over the drive gear (4 JIS phillips screws) on each drive truck and lightly added RedNTacky grease on mine. If you have JIS screw drivers, maybe a check to see if all screws are tight on the undercarriage?
