Rob,
Will American Steam Volunteers or staff be present to answer questions at the Midwest Open House March 25th? Great opportunity to show off 2100's progress and achieve some clarity.

Good question/suggestion. Maybe someone, anyone, will ask about the ultra-sonic test results on the firebox side sheets, that was performed by the now fired Chief Mechanical Officer. Kind of makes one wonder exactly WHY he was fired.
Latest update:
The Midwest Railway Preservation Society, Inc. has filed an eviction notice yesterday, in Cleveland Municipal Court, to evict the American Steam Railway and #2100, from their roundhouse in Cleveland, Ohio. Be interested in Mr. Gardner's spin in THIS.

Whatever time and money this takes will delay the restoration by at least that much more. Looks like the 2100 will still be in pieces and now seeking a new home way this is going...
Mr. Mueller's 2102 in Pennsylvania is planned to be operational in summer 2017 so we at least have that T1 to look forward to.
Just my opinion but, I believe you are overly optimistic about Mr. Mueller's #2102, which SHOULD be ready for spring 2018, while the PRR T1 Duplex isn't even built yet.
Earlier in the week ASR issued a 2016 review and 2017 preview. Regarding 2100:
"For the 2100, it is our ultimate goal to have her in steam by mid to late summer. While this is an ambitious goal, much rides on our ability to raise funds to keep moving forward with the project and the amount of work needed on the firebox."
So, maybe maybe not.

Jack, I really do mean this, Thank you very much for this information. Well it looks like quite a while yet, even if it happens to see 2100 steam again.

Tom, there is always hope. Just think what could happen if the poor 2100 could be gotten away from the ownership/lease mess with the current owners and ASR.
My understanding is that 2100 is anonymously owned and leased to ASR. Terms of that arrangement are unknown. Midwest leases out stall space to ASR at it's roundhouse and yard space for the 2 tenders on a year to year basis.

I saw 2100 once it got to Tacoma as part of the ill-fated “Golden Pacific” dinner (more like lunch) train to nowhere. They test ran 2100 in November, 2005 (and started running trips in 2006). With a FP-40 running HEP for the bi-level commuter coaches, it made for a very odd-looking train heading from Freighthouse Square to Frederickson, WA. In all fairness, the people running the train were super nice and I’d never been asked for feedback on a tourist operation before. The lunch was great and they even did a photo runby at Frederickson before we headed back to Tacoma (with 2100 being pulled backward and the diesel doing the majority of the work, run from the cab in the rear coach, it seemed). I chased it twice, rode it once, and was going to ride it a second time when they pulled the plug. I don’t recall how long this operation run, but it wasn’t for very long.
The ‘Spirit of Washington’ Dinner train re-located to the exact same spot soon afterward and I assume suffered the same problems with ridership the 2100 operation had. I think that lasted even less time (I was very disappointed, as I was going to buy tickets but they folded before I could even do that) and folded up for good.
Here’s some video, not shot by me but you get the idea of what it looked like:
And I think this is the diesel they used on this: http://www.ozarkmountainrailca...-F40PH-418-SALELEASE
And these were some shots I got:
My Former Neighbor, Herbie Hurt was the engineer on the 2100 during the Rambles.
I have his picture hanging out of the cab in Jenkintown and he is in the video of 2100 backing through the Y at Hagerstown, MD in the Reading Rambles video.
God rest his soul. He was a unique individual.
Well, the Midwest open house came and went. Over 650 visitors but no one from ASR. In fairness, they may be legally enjoined from the premises so nothing can be done until legal issues are resolved.
I do not know about you but I really get steamed about rumors. People should only listen to the people who are working on the locomotive. This locomotive has aways seem to come back. It may take a little bit longer but they are just being careful.

NOT "rumor". The eviction notice is a matter of public record in the court, there in Cleveland.
People should only listen to the people who are working on the locomotive.
Except, PETE S stated above that "no one from ASR" was present. Thus, no one to ask.

Well, I'm not sure exactly who you think is "just being careful", but there are some pretty serious "issues" with that ASR organization.
In all honesty, I did not expect officers of ASR to be there as that would have been awkward. I was curious if ASR would ask local volunteers to at least represent ASR and 2100 to the general public. As a tour guide for Midwest I led groups into the roundhouse and watched jaws drop at the sight of 2100. What a great opportunity to generate local interest, volunteers and of course $$. but all I could do was answer general questions to the best of my knowledge. Thankfully, no legal questions came up.
My eyeballs tell me nothing has or will happen on 2100 until all legal issues are resolved and that could take many months.

Yes, prior to the mess in Tacoma, Washington.
