Reading Northeastern caboose addition for O Scale railroad museum

My O scale railroad museum recently acquired a Reading "northeastern" caboose #92830. This was built for Williams in Korea. It has dual lighting and smoke. Although railroads today do not operate any caboose this unit will be used for occasional operation by the Reading Railroad Historical association along with the Reading 0-6-0 tank engine #1251.

Very nice Williams caboose, I have never seen a smoking caboose from Williams. Also like the old Reading steam engine.

Do you think that a Philly & Reading woodside caboose might look better with that Reading Lines dockside engine? I have a P & R woodside caboose by MTH.

Also have some newer Reading & Northern hopper cars from RMT, two bay hoppers, and some four bay hoppers from MTH for R & N.

Williams offered brass cabooses with smoke units around 1990(?). They are scarce today but they turn up now and then. 92830 runs on the Wanamaker, Kempton & Southern, as dpicted in the photos above. The WK&S also runs 92936, a wooden caboose made during World War II to conserve metal.

92844 runs occasionally on the Lehigh Gorge Scenic Railway at Jim Thorpe

That model of 1251 is Lionel's first "Docksider." She sure looks good!

Thanks for giving me a time frame on the Williams smoking brass caboose. I might see if my former Williams dealer has one on hand.

I have one which I got at a great price in California, no big interest in LA for the Reading. I have mixed feeling for it. The caboose itself is a fine model, it is very well done in brass, the electronics, the lighting is another story, the roller is shoddy poorly designed and does not work well at all, in fact I cut the wire to the lights, it blinked so much it looked like a strobe light. The caboose painting is well done and for the price I got it for I should not complain. I paid more for a Halloween plastic transfer caboose. All in all I am happy with it and run it with my Allentown coal special. I need to get a white star to put on it I am told to signify it was a special caboose for the Bethlehem steel plant trains.
