This morning there were 2 passenger trains and a local freight running on the main when switch #10 developed an electrical problem. Switch #10 routes trains around a major station, so its failure shut down the mainline.

Switch #10 has been fraught with mechanical and electrical problems over the past few years, so today the track crew is removing and replacing it with another 042 Real Trax switch. Switch #10's failures in the past including a burnout of its circuit board, a broken wire in its controller, and to top it off, the track gauge of the switch is contracted at the frog causing some steamers to bind. The next decision is, do I fix #10 or cannibalize it for parts.

Removing a piece of sectional track like Real Trax and Fastrack is a bear of a chore because of the interlocking sections and scenery.
