Hi all,

I am putting together a little Realtrax layout on the benchwork I have already completed to run my smaller trains on while I continue to build the benchwork for my permanent layout. In order to have some operational interest I have a double ended siding tied in to the main line so I can park one train and run another and vise versa. There are two 072 switches on both ends. My issue is the space where both switches are attached. Many of my small locos stall in the area between the frogs. I checked the voltage and grounds and everything seems okay. I ran a K-Line lighted caboose through there by hand to see if I was getting a short or voltage drop and the light was good and bright all the way through. My Williams RDC's and RailKing SW run through great, but my K-Line MP15s, Lionel U36B with identical mechanism and my Williams GP9 all stall in that area. I took the backs off of the switches and soldered in a bunch of jumpers and no improvement in operation. Did anyone here have this issue with RealTrax switches? Any suggestions on a fix? I tried four different switches and have the same problem regardless of which two are in there. I attached a pic of one end of my siding to show the switch configuration.

The printed circuit board inside of the switch is probably burned up. It’s under the moving part. It happens. You can solder it or just add another lock-on. There is a good thread about this. It usually comes up near the top of the search results.

Thanks Mark. I checked that and the traces on the boards are okay. I have continuity and voltage everywhere I should in all of the switches. I just took one of the switches out so that there is one switch in the main that goes into a curve and everything except the Geep is running through there like they should. I did find that I don't have continuity between the pickups on my Geep, so there is a problem I will tackle tomorrow evening.
