If I were buying a set, I wouldn't touch a used set, unless it was from someone with whom I ran trains and I was familiar with the particular unit. No way would I buy from an auction house or e-bay (fleabay as one forumite calls it).
Considering your location, the good news is a TIU will fit in a USPS Priority Mail Medium Flat-Rate box. So about $12 gets it to the East Coast where a lot of the guys are.
I've found that sometimes the flat-rate box is more expensive than going Priority Mail by weight.
Well got a message from the DCS doctor, my TIU can't be saved. Unknown complications from unknown reasons. Sunspots I think...
I'm disappointed of course, but at least my Legacy System survived 3 years in storage in working order. Too bad DCS systems are in short supply, my regular dealer is out of stock.
