Reattaching States Cars trucks pins?

I now have 2 "Williams" states cars that have the brass truck rivets that have pulled through the bottom. Is there some way of installing one without disassembling the interior, bending tabs etc.? I'm sure there has to be some trick to this problem that I'm just not seeing, as it looks like my original Blue Comet cars are similar. I can't imagine scratching up a deluxe car like this for such a minor repair.
