What would be a good BCR to put in my Lionmaster Big Boy, Lionmaster Challenger and Lionmaster Class A (planning on getting one)? I would like something easy and simple to install and don't have to worry about it malfunctioning and also would like a brand that is known to last.

Lionel engines do not need a BCR. Lionel does not have a charging system in the engine.
Only MTH PS-1 and PS-2 engines can use a BCR. MTH PS-3 engines have eliminated the battery and have no need for a BCR.

which is why you need a bcr with an extra wire.
I would do some math and start asking questions about how long a BCR is good for. Have read on another forum that the BCR will need replacing after so many years just like a battery. The cost of a BCR is much more then your rechargeable battery.

FWIW, the supercaps used in BCR's do have an MTBF, they don't have an "unlimited" life. They will probably last as long as you need, but they do use a combination of a dry and wet electrolyte, so they can eventually dry out. Every capacitor has different characteristics. You should check out the datasheet of you capacitor to figure out when it needs replacement.
The characteristics of your capacitor will change over time, under certain conditions. Usually, (super)capacitors have a parameter called endurance / load life (in hours) or life cycles (in cycles). An example of what you can find in a datasheet:
After 1000 hours application of 5.5V DC at +85°C, the capacitor shall meet the following limits:
Capacitance change: ±30% of initial measured value
Internal resistance: < 4 times of initial specified value
So, in the case above, you can decide if a change of ±30% of the initial capacitance is still suitable for your application. If not, you should replace the capacitor after 1000 hours of operation under those conditions.
