What is the purpose of this red banner at the top and how do I make it go away other than scrolling down? It has not been present before today. I use W10 with installed MS Edge browser and normally have no problems.

Doesn't appear on mine. I'm using an Apple MacBook Air, with Safari.
I also run W-10 and have no red banner, but I think I DID at one time...might be related to a time zone discrepancy ? Is there a red X in the upper right of the red banner ? I sync'd the time zones and I no longer had the red banner.
I don't see any read banner, what does it say in the middle? I can see it has some text on it, but the image is too small to read.
I have never seen that before on this forum. It must be some setting on your computer doing that.

“Skip to main content”. I can’t say I’ve ever seen that before.
Very odd, I've never seen it, but I don't use an iPad for access.
This is what I see on the top of every forum page...
Funny, looks a lot like what I see Rich.
I also get the red banner "skip to main content". Started today for the first time.
What browser are all you guys using?
I tried Firefox, Edge, and Chrome, can't see it happen on any of them. I even turned on my ad blocker to see if that would make it happen, no dice.
I see it in Internet Explorer and I see it in Edge on my laptop running Windows 10. I don't see it in Chrome.
No red banner -- I use Chrome.
It is on both my Apple desktop using Google Chrome and my iPad.

I've got it too. Running windows 10 windows edge browser. Just started today.
You guys seeing this red banner are probably running an ad blocker. It is blocking all the ads at the top of the forum and your browser is replacing them with the red banner.
The red banner is not coming from this forum.

Thanks Rich. Turned off ad blocker and it went away. I hadn't thought about ad blocker.
I'm not running an ad blocker on my I-pad, the red banner is there, and all the ads appear beneath the red banner. Does anyone have the courage to click on the banner to see what happens?

It's back but I'm seeing the ads now. Clicked on it and it went away. I have no idea what it's purpose is unless you want to hide the ads which I don't want to do.
I was so happy to see that! I could skip all those management threads and go right to the forum of interest.
Nope. No idea what it does, but it did not hurt to click on it.

I repeat ... the red banner is NOT coming from this forum. It is being inserted into the top of your screen by your web browser, due to the security or ad blocking settings you have set in your web browser.
The image I posted earlier came from my Ipad. Here's what my computer sees:
No red banner...
Hi all,
Having compared my screen view (using a Chrome derivative browser), Rich's posted view, and GregM's posted view, it looks like the only thing the "red" banner blocks is the darker blue single line which starts with a link to the OGR Forum Topics and ends with a link to each individual member's profile. Since each forum page has some adverts, not sure why only this line is blocked, but it obviously can't be forum software or we would all be seeing the "red" banner.
Chuck
My iPad has zero ad blockers or added security has the red banner. My MAC running Firefox with adblock plus has no ads and no red banner.
Pete
I don't know what has changed, but as can clearly be seen in my screen shots, all the sponsors ads are visible. This banner was not present before yesterday. This iPad is so old it hasn't been possible to upgrade the software for a long time. What is covered up by the red banner is the menu and I can no longer access the search function on this iPad. I cleared all the browser data to see if that would get rid of the banner, no such luck. Was able to sign back in by first hitting the Post button.
Both my computers have it, one at work and one at home. They use different OSes, different browsers, and different browsing settings, so it's not as simple as it being ONLY on our end.
Good news. The red banner has disappeared this morning from both my Apple desktop and my iPad. Life is good.

I do think it's on our end. But I went into Mircrosoft edge settings and found nothing to correct this. Setting there are limited. Same thing with ad blocker I'm using. I'm using AD Block Plus.
What happens when you click on it?
Rich,
Thank you for your replies. If the issue is a "...security or ad blocking settings you have set in your web browser", then its surprising because this issue seems to only be occurring on the OGR Crowdstack pages. In W10 Edge, I only block third-party cookies and have no specific ad block setting or app/software. Perhaps Crowdstack has changed a setting that now impacts users who block third-party cookies? If so, what new type of ads or tracking algorithms are "our settings" now reacting to here and nowhere else? Again, it has not been a previous problem on OGR and browser settings react to a outside stimulus.
10 of the 16 posters here all see the same problem starting yesterday. Given that their variety of systems and browser settings have been in place before this occurrence, and the problem did not exist on OGR pages previously with these settings, the explanation would seem like the other six are using more permissive settings which don't react to this new stimulus from the Crowdstack engine.
Respectfully,
Bryan

When you click on the "skip to main content" red banner, it scrolls you down to the first daily topic. In other words, it scrolls you down past the ads and down past the sticky topics, and brings your screen to the first most recent post.

I did not get any emails to the effect that a code change was made, but I submitted a tech support question to them about this. We'll see.
I also block 3rd party cookies in all my browsers, and I don't see the banner.
This has been fixed with some custom CSS. It was something that Crowdstack rolled out, that I knew nothing about.
THREAD CLOSED.
An update today from Crowdstack:
I wanted to follow-up to let you know that we've identified a case where the "Skip to main content" was appearing in some older browsers. We've addressed that issue now and have also changed the banner so that it will no longer overlay on top of content. Instead, when the banner appears, it will appear statically above the content of your page.
Maybe some of you have not updated your browsers lately?
I removed the custom CSS that was hiding this. We'll see what happens.
