I am in the process of adding an around-the-room shelf layout in the train room. I have the brackets up, and temporarily placed the shelves on the brackets to adjust the fit. Because the shelves are wood, and the wall sconces are below the shelves, there now is a shadow area above the shelves. Any ideas on lighting the area above the shelves? For the most part, the shelves are 9 3/8" in depth and are 10" from the ceiling.

First thing that came to mind was the LED lights in the flexible tubes used for exterior accent lighting around the top at the back of the shelf. usually a holiday item, perhaps you could find them in warm white.
Bob,
I used LED fixtures from Harbor Freight. They came in four light bar, which I separated into individual lights. I used plastic wire mold in between which I painted black. I have a different situation, as there is a boxed in beam that I mounted the lights on. I think the whole project was about fifty bucks.
I also had some LED strip lighting that a friend gave me that in incorporated into ceiling fixtures. I placed the strips above sand blasted glass panes as recessed lighting. These can be seen in photo two, three and four.
