Looks like my friend's TIU has bit the dust.  I cannot get his remote to connect to TIU......I've tried tethering the remote to the TIU as well as trying to communicate to it wirelessly.  When I press the read button, I receive error message, "TIU Address 1 not Found."  I confirmed I had the right address from the TIU LED after I powered it up.

If I tether my friends remote to my personal TIU which I know works, the remote works with no issues.....so I think this rules out the issue being in the remote.  This leads me to believe the issue is with his TIU.  I tried upgrading the TIU and remote firmware from 3.10 to 6.10, but of course this didn't change anything.  I'm guessing at this point the only option would be to replace the whole circuit board in the TIU?  Not totally sure, but I'm guessing the TIU may be the H1 version, since it was loaded with 3.10 firmware.

Try going to Menu on the remote and select System.

Scroll to TIU Setup and select it. Scroll to Add TIU and select.

If the TIU # is present on the list, scroll to it and press the thumbwheel to add it to the remote.

Turn everything off and restart and then go to READ and see if the TIU is there.

(If the TIU# is not present on the list at step 3, it generally means the TIU is already in the remote.)

You tether the remote to your TIU?  Have you tried running that remote without tether and connect with your TIU?  Sounds like the transceiver board has come loose inside the remote.  WARNING - do NOT open the remote yourself.  You can damage the connection points on the shell.  Yoou need to get it serviced.

when you tether it, I believe you just bypass those boards. So it should then work if that was the issue.

There maybe pins bent inside the tether's sockets not making contact.

Yes, I have tried tethering to the TIU as well as running the remote wirelessly.  Both methods failed to reach the TIU.  I should mention when the TIU was at my friends house, the tether operation was still working.  But when he would send a command, there was typically a delay until it reached locomotive

I will check tether sockets in remote and TIU.
