Removing a Lionel smoke stack

I think I may have found a more prototypical smoke stack for my Lionel M1b (6-11147). How easy are they to remove? Anyone know? It looks like the actual stack is a separate piece. I'm not at home to view the model but the attached picture is one from this forum.

Many of them are fairly easy to remove, however I don't know about that locomotive specifically. It does appear to be a separate piece.
